The Red Ribbon Club of Don Bosco College,Angadikadavu, organized a webinar on “Importance blood donation in Covid – 19 scenario” via Google Meet on June 14th 2021, as part of the celebration of World Blood Donor Day. The theme of this year was “Give blood and keep the world beating”. About 40 students of the college from the first and second year of MCA and faculty members participated in the event.
The event was organized by Desny Antony, Coordinator of Red Ribbon Club and student members of the college. Mr. Nithinkuttan P K, Assistant Professor and NSS Program Officer of DBASC, Angadikadavu was the resource person of this event. He explained about the importance of blood donation, how blood donation takes place and how one should get motivated towards donating blood. He then addressed why people lack interest in donating blood in Covid -19 situation and cleared all the doubts that people think about it. He said that safe blood donation saves many lives of all ages and from all walks of life every year. He also shared his experience about blood donation. He told that RRC members, anyone who is healthy, can donate blood and therefore there is no harm.It helped to create more confidence in the members.
He explained,it is necessary to celebrate this day at a great level to remove the ignorance, fear and misconceptions of the general public towards the voluntary blood donationcampaign.
